About the Artist – Tim Ellmers

I am originally from Charleston, South Carolina and I have always had a passion for the arts. Most of what I have learned is through self study, many art classes, and much practice (check out my post dedicated to my past art teachers). After graduating high school I attended Winthrop University initially to study Fine Arts/Painting but changed my major to focus on the sciences secondary to many conversations with my father who wanted the best for me and my future. After attending Winthrop University, I transferred to Campbell University where I graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy degree. I then went on to pursue further clinical training and completed a pharmacy practice residency in Harrisonburg, Virginia; the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. TheArtist.logoI enjoy helping people, physician’s, and nursing staff with their medications. It has always humbled me to serve. But in the interim, I found it hard to escape the pressures of work when I was not at work.  I ended up staying in Virginia for 5 and half more years. I practiced pharmacy exclusively during this time and never really gave any thought to picking up a brush again. At this point in my life I had been roughly 14 years removed from practicing any type of art. In 2015, there came a time when I had the house to myself and I used this time to start painting again. It was a very slow transition filled with frustrations where I ended up not picking up a brush for months at a time. Shortly after our time in Virginia, my wife and I made a big decision to leave our jobs so that we could be closer to family. Looking back we really did take a chance and moved to our current home on Burge Mountain in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I still practice pharmacy full time, but have changed my focus to also include things I love such as; gardening, drawing, and painting!

Now that I have started to paint again, I have taken much time to study other artists and to read books from cover to cover. I failed miserably in high school in focusing on how to grow. I attacked all paintings the say way and didn’t explore new ways so that I could grow. Why didn’t I? In starting this site I have really enjoyed seeing my progression in my prospective and my maturity in completing a painting.

My new life challenge is to try and complete as many paintings as I can, trying to break the ice on new techniques and taking chances on things I may have not done before. Staring Burge Mountain Artworks (~BMA for short) is the foundation of my personal challenge. I am hoping to put my life in the public realm  which will help keep me focused on my goal to paint regularly and often. Please be sure to check out my continuously growing art portfolio or take time to browse the available artwork on my site. All artworks are original and are one of a kind. So if you see something and have additional questions feel free to send me a message via my contact form. I am willing to entertain anything that is offered. I will return a reply as soon as I can.

“Works of art do not need to be expensive; therefore, you will  always find original works that are of exceptional quality, painted with love at a reasonable price.” – Tim Ellmers

Thank you for taking the time to check out BMA. Remember to always check back often, or follow my site website as I am always uploading new works constantly. I look forward to your comments and suggestions for possible works.

Cheers!
