Well, it has taken me awhile to get started with this personal challenge. I go into work late today and I wanted to use this time to paint. It was so nice outside I set up my easel overlooking my back pond and decided to do water lilies…Could I have chosen a harder task? NO! I had already started and was like, Tim, why did you choose this? Stupid, stupid, stupid Tim! I used my view finder to help me translate each lily pad over to the paper. Oh my, I need some work on perspective, but I am not going to be hard on myself as it has been 15 years since I picked up a piece of pastel.

Actual Set up and size

I’ll be easy on myself as I know it will take time. I spent about an hour on the water lilies. Second, I moved to the other side of the yard and focused on something a little easier, Elephant Ears. I may have spent about 45 minutes on this. With the Elephant ears picture I stood up rather than sitting, which I did with the water lily picture. Big difference. Do you sit or stand when you do your painting? I am not sure if one is better than the other. Well, day 1 of daily painting and I did 2. Again, I think these are bad, but I tend to never like anything I do as I feel I can do better. I hope to use this steam to continue this challenge. Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?
